Almost three months after the cyber attack on parts of Deutsche Leasing’s IT systems in June 2023, the company’s own monitoring systems have detected documents on the Darknet. Some of these documents also contain customer data.
The IT forensic investigations following the cyber attack on Deutsche Leasing in June, which have since been completed, revealed that individual servers and documents had been accessed. In response, the company had promptly initiated specific communication measures and alerted the relevant authorities.
Working with the Data Protection Authority of the State of Hesse, the company is now engaging in broader communication to publicise and minimise potential risks to data subjects who may be affected.
