Becoming a trainee at Deutsche Leasing

Your first step: a trainee programme at Deutsche Leasing

Every career begins with a first step: 18 months lay the foundation for your professional start with us - and for your career. This is the duration of our trainee programmes focusing on risk management, sales or corporate functions (central group divisions). You will undergo comprehensive basic training in the core business and take part in your individual qualification programme. And since we are represented by our subsidiaries on all continents, you can also expect an exciting assignment abroad.

Our trainee programmes are the first building block for your further career in a globally active company. Many doors will be open to you at Deutsche Leasing after this time of learning and experience.
 

What you should bring:

  • Academic background in economics, preferably with a focus on finance (university/technical college/dual studies),
  • Initial practical experience in the context of training and/or internships,
  • Strong communication skills and pleasure in working with customers,
  • Analytical skills,
  • Very good knowledge of English and international know-how (semester abroad or internships).

The Deutsche Leasing trainee programme in seven steps

  1. Your application: You send us your complete documents - cover letter, CV and certificates - via our career portal.
  2. Pre-selection: On the basis of the submitted documents we make a preselection.
  3. Video interview: We get to know each other in a video interview.
  4. Get-together: At a meeting with top management, you can find out about your prospects at Deutsche Leasing.
  5. Assessment Centre: The next day you will convince us of your skills in the Assessment Centre and get to know us better.
  6. Contract offer: If you have successfully passed all these stages, you will receive a contract offer from us.
  7. Start of the trainee programme: After signing the contract you will start on 1 April. Due to the modular structure of our programme, it is unfortunately not possible to start as a trainee on any other date.

 

The three trainee programmes at Deutsche Leasing

Our selection process+

  1. Receipt of application
    Please use our career portal to send in a full application file, consisting of a cover letter, your CV and your references. You can find the applicant login on the right.
     
  2. Pre-selection
    We make an initial selection on the basis of the applications submitted.
     
  3. Telephone call
    We get to know each other for the first time in a telephone call.
     
  4. Get together
    A get together with the top management will give you the chance to find out about your prospects with Deutsche Leasing.
     
  5. Assessment centre
    The next day you can show us what you are capable of at our assessment centre and we can get to know one another better.
     
  6. Offer of contract
    If you have successfully passed all these stages, you will be offered a contract.  
  7. Start of trainee programme
    After signing the contract, you will start your trainee programme at Deutsche Leasing on 1 April, with professional on-boarding support. Due to the modular structure of our trainee programme, a different start date is not possible.

Trainee Programme corporate functions (location: Bad Homburg)+

You will spend 18 months in different operational and strategic units and thus gain an excellent overview of all the core functions and business units of Deutsche Leasing. As a member of our team of experts, you will work in various units, for example:

- Controlling and accounting
- Sales
- Risk management
- Balance sheets and control 
- Business development 

Trainee programme in sales (nationwide)+

We are proud to be a sought-after business partner and to put forward-looking ideas into practice with our clients. If you want to contribute to our success, you should take part in the sales trainee programme.

As a member of our expert team, you will:

  • Provide advice on and sell our investment solutions
  • Devise and implement marketing strategies
  • Serve existing clients and win new ones
  • Evaluate company-specific data for calculating deals.
  • Manage projects and complex processes

Trainee programme in risk management (location: Bad Homburg)+

You will spend 18 months focusing on our risk units Domestic Risk, International Risk, Central Risk Management and Operational Risk & Compliance. As a trainee, you will quickly gain insights into our company's risk policy. As a member of our team of experts, you will take on exciting projects, for example in the subject units:

A year ago, I completed my master’s degree and due to a career network scholarship, I became aware of Deutsche Leasing as an employer. My first contact with them was very friendly, open and promising. The application process was also clear and welcoming. The interviews and the assessment centre were not purely for screening; it was more that they gave an opportunity for both parties to get to know each other. Numerous managers from throughout the company and also a member of the Management Board were present at this early stage in the process, and were happy to answer my questions. This gave me a good insight into the company, the corporate culture, the conditions and the working atmosphere.
 
This good impression was reinforced during the onboarding phase, in which a comprehensive entry programme was provided to the trainees for the new assignment. This facilitated us getting to know each other, as well as being practical preparation on numerous levels.
 
The different stations in the trainee programme were organised and coordinated very well. In the departments I worked in, I was always welcomed with open arms and integrated quickly as a team member with responsibilities. I was also able to work on my personal qualifications continuously. Various professional trainings, seminars, team-building measures, network events and other measures were offered to complement the programme.
 
My personal highlight was the two-month assignment in a European subsidiary. In accordance with my preference, I went to Vienna in Austria. I was also accepted quickly onto the team there and was able to make a valuable contribution in customer contact, in risk decision
 
and with my own projects. The common language was a particular advantage, as this made it possible for me to be completely integrated into the daily business.
 
The last year helped me tremendously professionally, methodologically and personally, and gave me a wealth of experience and many great contacts. Of course, I also had a lot of fun during my time as a trainee.
 
The trainee programme suited me very well with its high practical relevance and it helped me to find my desired position within the company.
