We are shocked by the brutal war of aggression against Ukraine, which represents a blatant breach of international law and a serious violation of human rights. We are saddened and dismayed to see a sovereign state being attacked in the middle of Europe and thus unhinging the fundamental convictions of our democratic values and economic system. People are suffering and dying senselessly. Our thoughts and our solidarity are with the people in Ukraine.
We are convinced that security, prosperity and international understanding are based on free trade and reliable international relations. Deutsche Leasing has built up its country network and its relationships with its international partners and customers based on this belief. This is also the case for Russia. Deutsche Leasing has been represented in Moscow and St. Petersburg by Deutsche Leasing Vostok AG since 1999 and has been supporting customers and partners in Russia ever since.
Together with our customers and partners, we will make our contribution and implement sanctions. Thus, since the beginning of March, we have suspended our new business in Russia until further notice. We are securing ongoing business operations under the given sanction conditions and in close exchange with our customers and partners.
After the many years of our business engagement in Russia, we feel obliged to our colleagues who bear no responsibility for the war and its consequences and whom we thank for their commitment.
