Historically, Sweden is a very export-oriented country. Due to their small domestic market, Swedish companies look abroad for new markets. Germany is Sweden’s most significant trading partner.


Economic situation
Germany is Sweden’s largest import country. In 2010 German products accounted for approximately 18% of all Swedish imports. Of this total, over 2/3 consist of engineering products and other manufactured goods.

Germany is also very important for Sweden as an export market. Almost 10 per cent of Sweden’s exports go to Germany. The most important exports are engineering and semi-manufactured products. Together they account for approximately 2/3 of Sweden’s total export market.
