Leasing in Italy
Italy is one of Germany’s most important trading partners, but the italian leasing market is also of interest to german companies for another reason. This sector, in the last ten years, is recording a double-digit growth – thus placing it in Europe’s top “leasing” group. Italy, for example, is number one in Europe in the real estate leasing. The reason for the growing importance of leasing in Italy is the fact that the italian government continues to recognize that leasing is an important instrument for supporting its structural and employment policies. As a result, cooperation between leasing firms and the machinery and plant construction industry has continued to grow in importance.
In contrast to Germany, leasing firms in Italy are mainly accountable to their respective banks. The result is a form of leasing that has a unique traditional, national character. In the case of finance leasing (with purchase option) and operating leasing (with no purchase option) the leasing provider is the owner of the leased objects.
